We are currently accepting resumes for the full time permanent position of Project Accountant located on the Imperial Oil site, just outside of Cold Lake, Alberta.  

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Provide daily, weekly and monthly reporting as required;
  • Understand and become the team expert regarding the maintenance contract for the specific project site;
  • In partnership with the business leaders, create annual recommended rate revisions as per the contract terms;
  • On a monthly basis review all transactions charged to the project to ensure that they are coded properly and charged to the correct place. Ensure all recoverable costs are charged back to the client;
  • Understand all aspects of the work we perform on site as well as the administration, accounting and reporting requirements to act as a translator between the two;
  • Perform reconciliations between the various systems;
  • Lead or assist in the resolution of any rejected charges;
  • Work with operations to identify and implement cost savings measures or revenue opportunities;
  • Maintain area budgets;
  • Understand and adhere to all Tartan Corporate policies, procedures and values, including Tartan’s Safety Management System;
  • Understand and adhere to Imperial Oil’s Cold Lake safety procedures;
  • Other duties as required by the project.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision;
  • Must be a self-starter with proven ability to make comprehensive decisions;
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and deal with sensitive information effectively;
  • High level of accuracy and strong attention to detail;
  • Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to meet deadlines;
  • Willingness to “roll up your sleeves” and get involved in the details;
  • Effective oral and written communication skills with the ability to develop and maintain strong working relationships with all levels within the organization as well as external customers.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in a cost control or project accounting role;
  • Post-secondary education or equivalent experience is required;
  • Accounting designation is an asset;
  • Proficient in excel;
  • Knowledge of ESES, Aspire, SAP and DTC is an asset.
