Part of Tartan’s strategy is to enter into new geographic markets that our business model would be successful in. Through the newly created role of Operations Manager which is located in Estevan, Saskatchewan, we are looking to do that.

Location: Estevan, Saskatchewan

Summary of Role

In order to be successful, the Operations Manager will need to be a developer, execution expert and a maintainer while building customer relationships, establish and grow a workforce that aligns with our core values as well as setting up the appropriate infrastructure to be successful. This position will be challenging and rewarding with lots of opportunity to grow a new arm of Tartan.  

Responsibilities/Duties

  • Understand and adhere to Tartan’s safety management system, policies, procedures and values
  • Utilize project management experience to deliver project-specific plans, procedures, and reporting processes that support consistent, predictable project execution;
  • Be disciplined in utilizing Tartan’s proprietary Project Management Manual (PMM) as well as Hard Dollar (HD) Software;
  • Organize and support daily operations;
  • Support planning and estimating department;
  • Manage overall project(s) performance based on metrics that include cost, schedule, scope, quality and safety;
  • Develop and implement communication plans for all key stakeholders;
  • Oversee and monitor the work of third parties;
  • Support a working environment that strives to meet HSE objectives;
  • Lead and assist in the project “scope of work” clarification and description with client and project team;
  • Act as the focal point / link between the client and team ensuring details and expectations are clear and understood;
  • Ensure that all manpower / tools / equipment / materials and facilities; overall project resources are aligned and committed;
  • Involved in the selection of the project superintendent and foreman, acts as a resource on all project activities providing coaching / mentoring to supervisory staff and champions issue resolution; internal and external with the client, involving contract safety, quality control, schedule and performance concerns;
  • Ensure that all invoicing, accounting and payroll reporting and monitoring systems are in place and adhered to, enabling the accurate daily invoicing, progress reporting and budget / schedule status;
  • Track and report to client on change orders that will adversely affect project budget and schedule;
  • Provide mentorship and guidance as well as execute performance reviews annually to direct reports;
  • Perform other duties as required.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Experience in developing business opportunities, pipeline construction and well site maintenance
  • Driven to success – experience setting aggressive targets, proven record of meeting and exceeding goals and objectives;
  • Exceptional communication skills;
  • Motivated to work in a deadline orientated environment;
  • Knowledgeable and skilled in leading a successful team.

Qualifications

  • A minimum of 10 years of relevant experience in heavy industrial or energy industry;
  • Minimum of 5 years in a leadership role;
  • Business and development experience is an asset;
  • A trade certificate and post-secondary education would be considered an asset;Compensation will commensurate with experience.
